It is my privilege to welcome you to the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. Since its establishment in 1972 as one of the oldest departments of the university, our department has evolved continuously to keep pace with advancements in science and technology. Initially offering a joint B.E. in Mining & Metallurgical Engineering, it became an independent department in 1980, awarding the B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering. Recognizing the global developments in materials science, the department was renamed at the turn of the millennium to its current title.

Our mission is to equip you — our students — with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. With a strong focus on Outcome-Based Education (OBE), we strive to provide a dynamic learning environment that blends theory with hands-on experience, preparing you for both industry and research careers.
